If there was ever a need for leadership development, it is within the field of Education.
There couldn't be a better, more opportune place to build legacy than in schools. Over
the last few years, Dr. Kathy Dale, of Fort Hays University in Kansas, has been developing
a translated version of our Legacy Leadership® model for use within school systems from
top to bottom. She has piloted the training and development from top school administrators
to kids. She has done an amazing job of capturing the essence of educational leadership
in general, and containing that within the comprehensive and easily understandable
model of Legacy Leadership®.
Dr. Dale's research covered several years of work. Here's how she describes her findings:
Legacy Leadership® for Educators was a labor of love among eleven school districts in
Kansas and Oklahoma and Southwest Plains Regional Service Center (Education Service
Agency). As I met with superintendents and principals, it became apparent that although
many leadership programs existed, none were as comprehensive across the research
based best practices of leadership as Legacy Leadership® by CoachWorks® International,
Inc. This was especially true of the application side of Legacy Leadership®. We know the
theories of leadership, but what are the nuts and bolts of how to lead--how do we apply
leadership skills in real world situations. The consortium of school districts and the regional
education agency began a study forum to identify how the business model of Legacy
Leadership® could be translated to education and what educational research base
would form the foundation of Legacy Leadership® for Educators. The research of Robert
Marzano, Charlotte Danielson, and Peter Senge became the foundational research for the
material. After three years of writing and piloting Legacy Leadership® for Educators, the
first product is now available for trainers. Eventually, LLFE will form a comprehensive
system of leadership for school districts, administrators, teachers, students and parents.
